Apple’s “iPhone 2″ will be unleashed upon the world on June 9 — so says Jesus Diaz from Gizmodo, rather his source, whom he describes as “someone very, very close to the 3G iPhone launch”.
There’s enough in the air to support Diaz’s story. Didn’t we always know a 3G iPhone was on its way? What with iPhone stocks running dry, O2 dumping iPhones at reduced prices, top executives letting slip the possibility of an upcoming joint statement by Telefonica and Apple, and, Apple furiously negotiating deals with carriers across the globe (at last count, some 40 countries have iPhone deals in place with some of them having multiple carriers to offer the iPhone).
Besides, Apple’s Annual Developers Conference also happens to be on June 9 this year.
Diaz’s prized informer has more on his plate. He says this time, it will be a worldwide launch and not just in the US. The current fixed pricing will be discontinued in favor of a more flexible pricing. And yes, Telefonica will indeed be a carrier for the iPhone, and will launch the iPhone along with its new Madrid megastore on June 18.
We’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we?
