Capdase Professional Screen Guard Review

Many debates can be had on the need for screen protection on portable devices. Those on one side of the debate argue that protection dulls images and is not needed if you’re careful. Those on the other side argue that given the frequency of use and the mass amounts of unknown circumstances that could cause damage to the screen, protection is a must. I for one am an advocate for protecting my iPhone touch screen. Not that it specifically is prone to damage but more due to the fact that I am an early adopter and much of my electronic gadgetry eventually finds itself on ebay. The better the condition, the better the sell price.

So, when asked to review Capdase’s ScreenGuard, I thought, sure, why not? I’ll eventually need to replace my current screen guard anyway.

For the most part, Capdase’s screen guard provides the same protection as those sold by Apple but at a lower price. It’s non-glare face made it easy to see the screen in any light. However, I did come across one annoyance when applying the Capdase protector. There seemed to be a crease that I couldn’t “iron out” on the Capdase cover. Look at the upper right corner of the image below.

You’ll see there is a faint white line that reflects the crease. (ignore the other white specks - that’s just dust I failed to remove before taking the picture). As mentioned, I could not rub long enough to get rid of this crease. This was frustrating to me because I like my screen protectors to appear translucent - I don’t want anyone to know they’re there.

I admit, this little glitch could be chalked up to user installation error. I’ve always seen the application of this protection to be tedious at best. I’m hoping some day a vendor provides an easy application method that provides sure-fire placement. It’s frustrating having to find the break between the protective plastic that accompanies the screen protector itself and then try to perfectly align it to the touch screen.

After application, the Capdase ScreenGuard provides close to the same protection as any other screen guard. (After a day or so, I did notice it didn’t seem to “stick” well in some corners.) Nonetheless, it’s worth it’s suggested retail price of $11.55 and can be purchased at Shop Vinko. If it’s not specifically listed, send a special request and they’ll get it for you!
