Referring to our last article on NTT DoCoMo planning to win the right to sell iPhone in Japan we are bringing you the name of the carrier who does win that deal. Tokyo-based carrier Softbank, which is the third biggest operator on the Japanese market has managed to beat its stronger rivals.
The spokesman of the market leader NTT DoCoMo - Shinjiro Minami said that the company was hoping to gain an iPhone deal for itself, but its unclear if its going to make any efforts for it in the future. He also said: “The user interface is very attractive and it’s a product that’s likely to draw Apple fans in Japan,”.

The second biggest Japanese cell phone operator KDDI did not comment on the iPhone deal. KDDI spokesman Satoru said that the company was not interested in having the iPhone in its offer. The reason for that is the fact that KDDI customers are mainly young people who are already using their mobiles as music players, which already constitutes unfavorable situation for the iPhone.
The iPhone will enter a very competitive Japanese market full of other sophisticated and innovative devices. Only time will tell if its going to be a success story for Softbank.
