If you want some of the iPhone 3G’s functionality, but you don’t want to wait in line or you don’t want to switch to AT&T, there are some options out there for you.

None of them, in my view, are as good as the iPhone, but most of them have much to recommend them. Check out six contenders I wrote about for today’s paper.

If you’re on AT&T’s network (or you’re willing to switch) but you just can’t live without the keyboard, you may want to wait for the soon-to-be released BlackBerry Bold. I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s gotten very good reviews.
