iPhone update targeted to fix 3G woes, says Apple

An update released for the iPhone two days ago is meant to deal with communication problems with the company’s 3G iPhone, an Apple spokeswoman said.

Complaints from users have been on the rise recently about an inordinate amount of dropped calls when using the iPhone 3G. While Apple admits the software update was released to deal with this problem, the company was not forthcoming with specifics on the fix.

Apple spokeswoman Jennifer Bowcock said iPhone software 2.0.2 provides “improved communication with 3G networks,” according to the Associated Press.

Bowcock declined further comment on what improvements users could expect once the update was installed.
