Apple iPhone 3G: Five Business applications

Posted in iPhone News by admin. Published September 5th, 2008

When the Apple App Store launched we have seen a steady stream of apps that are business orientated hit the store, most of these being 3rd-party start-ups, but now some of the big name software vendors are also wanting a piece of the action.

Oracle, Sybase, and SAO have all released Apple iPhone 3G business apps which allow iPhoners to access some of that functionality afforded the more traditional desktop versions, and most of these can be found at the App Store.

According to research company Gartner, the Apple iPhone 3G “does not deliver sufficient security for custom applications.” So those businesses wishing to deploy apps will have to bear with this low security.

However, ZDNet Asia has taken a look at five enterprise apps that the software big guys are hoping to catch the attention of the business carrying iPhoner: Sybase iAnywhere Mobile Office; SAP; Oracle Business Indicators; Web-based apps: Netsuite, SugarCRM, Zoho; and Salesforce.com Mobile.
