EA and Maxis have released a patch for the Mac version of Spore, bringing the game to version 1.1. Luckily for players, developers managed to squeak in a few fun things too. There’s a cool cheat that allows you to turn your creature into a blocky representation of themselves, a new “inspection” feature for the creature creator to browse the parts stats that you have applied to your creature, and the much-requested “evoadvantage” cheat - you’ll now be able to start a new creature game with a more evolved creature of your choice!
The focus of this patch is to fix some bugs that have been reported and to respond to user feedback with respect to tuning and stability. Some major patch fixes include patch detection text to display in correct language. Once patched, subsequent patch detection will display correctly. The @ symbol on the French AZERTY keyboard is now re-mapped for easier typing. You will notice improved thumbnail resolutions for saved creatures, including five new animations, recorded when creating animated GIFs in Test Drive Mode. Randomly occuring system hanging is now fixed, including a crash associated with EADM. Creatures no longer disappear from the Sporepedia when the save flow is interrupted, and the Audio buzzing found on systems with nForce2 integrated audio is now corrected.
Some disparities between server and game complexity limits are now fixed. New integration of ‘Save’ function with PNG format allows creatures’ PNGs made with Spore to be drag-and-dropped into the Spore Creature Creator. Spore Creature Creator players who do not patch will not be able to drag-and-drop PNGs created in patched versions of the Spore Creature Creator or Spore.
Generally, the latest patch improves overall stability. To get the patch, launch the EA Download Manager to download and install it. For Macintosh players, the patch can be obtained by simply starting your game. For more information, visit Spore Patches info web page.
