Fonix Speech is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fonix Corporation which provides embedded speech interfaces for mobile devices, handheld electronic products, video game systems and processors.
Fonix iSpeak is available at Apple (News - Alert) iTunes App Store in the Productivity and Utilities category. Fonix iSpeak comes in compatible forms for both the original and 3G models of iPhone with OS 2.0 or later versions.
The demand for iSpeak is expected to rise as industry analysts have predicted that more than 10 million iPhones will be sold by this years end.
Fonix iSpeak does not need to be trained to a user’s specific voice as contacts are automatically indexed. Minutes after downloading the application it can be used to make calls with or without a headset and users can change and select from different settings for improving the recognition performance.
“Fonix iSpeak is the voice engine for our product roadmap for the iPhone; a simple, intuitive, user friendly mobile device,” remarked Steve Jones, Fonix senior sales executive.
“Our customers experience an extremely accurate voice interface to their iPhone. We’re anxious for Apple to open their development tools that will enable Fonix to include other features such as Bluetooth compatibility, launch music, videos and web search. Follow the instructions and Fonix iSpeak truly delivers the freedom of speech.”
Users pleased with the offering commented, “This will become the premier voice dial application” and “This app will get better when integrated with other functions.”
Fonix said it plans to advance its technology and features suitable for the iPhone with more releases. This will coincide with the release of more development tools from Apple. Future development features include Bluetooth compatibility, Launch music, videos and Web search. Additional languages which will be supported by Fonix iSpeak are French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Japanese.
