Metal Gear Solid on iPhone

Konami has announced that it will bring Hideo Kojima’s classic stealth action series Metal Gear Solid to iPhone and iPod Touch. While MGS fans rejoice, Konami also announced Silent Hill: The Escape and Frogger for the iPhone platform.

Kojima was recently awarded the Life Time achievement award by MTV.

The series is to be titled Metal Gear Solid Touch. iPhone and iPod Touch users will have the legendary snake of Metal Gear Solid 4 and other characters on their devices. Initially having eight action packed stages, controls would obviously be operated through the touch-screen. Players would also be able to unlock wallpapers and images within the game.

Silent Hill: The Escape brings the “doom-laden streets of the series’ titular town” in FPS mode to the iPhone OS platform. You’ll get to see new monsters in the darkness and a more brooding atmosphere.

The classic 80s coin-operated Frogger will undergo a revamp to fit the iPhone platform. The object of the game is to make the frog reach his lily-pad home by safely crossing across a busy street and a river filled with dangers.

Konami will roll out these three games in early 2009.
