Via the always informative folks at Core77 comes a slam-dunk nominee for the 2008 “Best Possible Use of an iPhone” award (which I just created): doggie webcam and remote treat dispenser.
It’s the work of Stephen Myers, a Ph. D student in biomedical engineering who began his post describing the project with a simple question: Why have a universal remote control when you can have a universe controller?
Indeed, Stephen.
He put the device together using equal parts junk and genius, the project took under two hours, and the results are flat-out amazing. In future posts, Myers plans to discuss using the same technology to control your home lights and “update your Twitter feed automatically when you leave the office.”
It’s crazy to think this is only the beginning.
