New iPhone-capable PVR platform being developed by ViXS Systems

A new PVR/DVB solution that will support streaming to the iPhone is being developed by ViXS Systems and Rebaca Technologies. The Set-Top Box Reference Design for the platform will make use of the Rebaca Software Stack and the ViXS XCode 3290 SoC.

In addition to supporting complete DVB and PVR stacks, the Platform incorporates advanced features for the connected home, leveraging the SOC’s powerful HD transcoding capability to deliver highly interoperable content to advanced mobile devices and to increase playback time by up to 10 times by reducing the amount of Hard-disk space required for storage.

The Platform under joint development is targeted at the European market. In addition to DTV and PVR support, advanced features include media streaming to mobile devices such as the Nokia N96 and the Apple iPhone and DLNA support.
