Unless you have an iPhone from a Japanese carrier, there is no way to activate emoji without downloading an app.
First, Frosty Place did the trick with its app for 99 cents. And it still works.
Now there’s a new app called Touch Dial Emoji, which is also 99 cents.
I personally don’t understand why Apple doesn’t allow emoji around the world. I mean, so what if it’s popular in Japan. I personally love sending iPhone messages with emoji and I realize that only people using iPhones can see them. Luckily I know enough folks with iPhones and just don’t send it to those who don’t.
Anyhow, if you are looking for another way to send emoji, Touch Dial Emoji is now available for 99 cents. Frosty Place is the one I use and that’s also 99 cents.
Let me know what you think of this app, Frosty Place and emoji in general either here in the comments or on Twitter.
Thanks for calling.
