Apple Rejects ‘South Park’ iPhone Application

Cartman, Kenny, Stan and Kyle won’t be coming to your iPhone anytime soon.

“South Park” iPhone app has been rejected by Apple because of “potentially offensive” content, South Park Studios said in a posting on its Web site.

“At this point, we are sad to say the app is dead in the water,” the studio said on its Web site Tuesday.

The app, which gave direct links to “South Park” Web videos and offered games and wallpaper, was first announced in October and submitted to Apple several times.

Apple told the studio that its standards constantly evolve, explaining that when iTunes first launched, there was no music with explicit lyrics sold — so there’s still hope the company could change its mind.

Ironically, dozens of episodes of the Comedy Central-based show can be downloaded to iPhones from iTunes, as can the full-length, fully R-rated feature film “South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut.”
