Keita Takahashi’s Noby Noby Boy has been somewhat of a divisive game, with some gamers basking in its oddness, and others simply find it boring. Soon those without a PlayStation 3 can see what all the fuss is about, as Takahashi revealed at the Game Developer’s Conference that the game is being ported to the iPhone.

Development on the port just started a few weeks ago, and an early video captured by Offworld shows that it’s definitely still in the early stages. A release date wasn’t announced, but Takahashi did give one piece of exciting news: the iPhone version may end up being free. It also appears as though the portable version will connect to the PS3 version, in that it will add to the overall cumulative growth of Girl. This means that players could potentially unlock new planets much faster.

Noby Noby Boy certainly isn’t for everyone, but the game does seem like a good fit for Apple’s portable device. It’s both well suited to quick bouts of gameplay, and the touch screen controls should add something to the stretching element of the game. Hopefully it turns out better than the iPhone version of Katamari.
