3.2 Megapixel Camera Confirmed For Next-Gen iPhone?

Posted in iPhone News by admin. Published April 4th, 2009

A tasty next-gen iPhone rumor for us this morning. Word has it that a Taiwanese industry report has leaked details of a 3.2 Megapixel camera coming to the next-gen iPhone.

Apparently, OmniVision has received orders from Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) for 3.2MP CMOS sensors. OmniVision was apparently in competition with Aptina and STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) for the contract. In addition to the 3.2MP sensors, OmniVision has also secured a deal to make 5MP sensors for Apple as well. Hmmmm, now isn’t that interesting!?

Too early to tell what’s really going on over here… As with most rumors that I come across, I’ll believe it when I see it. Should be an interesting summer for Apple for sure. Can’t wait to get my hands on a next-gen iPhone.
