Yahoo Unveils iPhone Voice Search

Posted in iPhone News by admin. Published May 22nd, 2009

Yahoo on Thursday announced that it has upgraded its iPhone app to include voice search, which lets users conduct a oneSearch query simply by “pressing and speaking” into the handset.

The move comes two days after Yahoo announced that it will de-emphasize support for Yahoo Mobile on other cell phone platforms in order to focus on the iPhone and a general mobile Web site.

Google introduced voice search for the iPhone six months ago.

Voice searches work for restaurant listings, sports scores, movie times, and flight status, among other things. The system also adapts to the unique aspects of each user’s voice over time through the use of a built-in feedback system.

For more information, visit Yahoo’s iPhone landing page, or get the app now from Apple’s App Store.
