Customers line up for newest iPhone

Apple’s new iPhone went on sale Friday morning and those eager to get their hands on the new faster touch screen 3G S showed up early at stores across the country.

Hundreds were in line when the doors opened at 7 a.m. at Apple’s flagship store in New York City.

Apple and AT&T, the phone’s U.S. carrier, offered pre-orders online so fewer people had to stand in line.

It also helped speed up the activation process.

The 3G S has a faster processor and an upgraded camera which is the main reason one man said he dished out the money for the new phone.

“It was the video part. I’m looking forward to doing that with my son, with the holidays coming up and I can video record him and send it to the families to all my family members,” said one customer.

The iPhone 3G S retails for as low as $199.
