The most recent shenanigans from Apple include this, an app submission rejected because the User Interface (UI) is too similar to the iPhone SMS built in-app.
The app in question - iTweetReply submitted a revision of their 1st version which fixed some bugs etc. although the UI and design elements remain the same from the previously-accepted version 1 therefore giving Apple no explainable reason to reject.
Here is the statement Apple gave as to why the app was rejected:

“Thank you for submitting your application to the App Store. Unfortunately, your application, iTweetReply – Push Twitter Replies and Direct Messages, cannot be added to the App Store because its usage of the standard SMS UI elements may be confusing or misleading to iPhone users. Please redesign your application to look significantly different from the standard iPhone SMS built-in app.”
It would seem that Apple’s transparency into this rejection is as usual, if they begin rejecting previously accepted apps for reasons that are unfounded, they are going to have a lot of unhappy developers and app customers alike.
