Recently there’s been some buzz around the internet about Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 being ported to the iPhone. Since it’s release in 2007, the iPhone has been a giant in the smart phone industry, towering over the competition.
Its wide selection of applications have made it a Juggernaut not just as a phone, but as a multimedia device. For some time now, the iPhone has been a contender in the realm of mobile gaming, but now with the confirmation that Capcom is indeed taking one of their highest selling games to the iPhone, Apple seems to be taking it to the next level. This brings to mind one simple question that all gamers need to ask themselves: Why?
Originally leaked to the iPhone store in Japan, the game was pulled quickly, but not before some videos hit the web. Soon after, Capcom officially confirmed the title on Twitter.
From viewing the game in action, it’s easy to see that the controls, while innovative for the iPhone, are far from intuitive. The player literally spends most of the time in the video adjusting his aim. Can you imagine how frustrating this would be when you’re surrounded on all sides by a horde of the undead and you’re spending neck biting-ly precious seconds fine tuning the iPhones finicky controls?
Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. You can choose to play Resident Evil 4 on the iPhone, at the expense of graphics, and controls. Is the convenience of being able to shoot zombies while on the go worth such a hit to the gameplay experience?
