The Weather Channel iPhone App: Reviews and ratings of one of the most popular weather forecast apps

Everyone knows the Weather Channel. And thank God they’ve made an app for the iPhone and iPod Touch that keeps us all in the know when it comes to severe weather and your daily weather forecasts.

There are several great things about the Weather Channel app. First, you can save multiple locations. So if you’re going to be traveling somewhere soon, punch it in and save the location so you’ll always be up-to-date with the weather happenings in your future destination.

Another feature of the Weather Channel app that I just LOVE is the hourly forecast. Sure, the day’s forecast says rain in the evening, but what TIME in the evening should I expect the rain to hit? This is perfect for those times when I want to squeeze in an early evening run after dinner but before the rain hits–I can check out the hourly forecast and find out, by the hour, what time the rain is supposed to show. Gotta love technology!

In addition to the standard forecasting, you can also check out video radar of what is going on in your surrounding area. I have found, however, that there are times when this does not load up correctly, so don’t have your heart set on watching radar with the Weather Channel app.

All in all, though, for a free app, The Weather Channel app is not too bad. I love that I can set different weather locations (so I can see what the weather is like at the in-law’s place up north!) and that I can get a good generalized guess as to when to expect the weather to change, hour by hour.
