The highly anticipated third generation iPod touch was announced at Apples “Only Rock and Roll” event but customers were disappointed to hear that it would not be getting a camera. Although the iPod touch did not get one the iPod Nano did.

Rumours of the third generation iPod touch including a camera surfaced when images were leaked of new iPod touch cases being manufactured which had holes supposably for a camera to see through.
Steve Jobs in a recent interview with the New York Times stated that Apple is really pitching the iPod Touch as a game machine these days and “we were focused on is just reducing the price to $199. We don’t need to add new stuff. We need to get the price down where everyone can afford it.”
The new prices are 8GB for $199, 16GB for $229, 32GB for $299, and the brand new 64GB for $399. The 32gb and 64gb versions are also said to operate 50% faster because they now support OpenGL|ES.
