Vonage shares are skyrocketing following the company’s announcement that Apple has approved its mobile application for iPhone and iPod.

Vonage said it is conducting beta tests with the software and that general availability will be announced at a later date.
As I noted last week, Apple has previously approved a number of other voiceover IP applications for distribution through the App Store, but as a matter of policy only allows VoIP apps to connect via Wi-Fi, and not through the AT&T 3G network.
