Adobe Flash to Allow iPhone App Porting

Posted in iPhone News by admin. Published October 6th, 2009

That’s right, Adobe will allow developers to create applications in Flash that they can then port to the iPhone and iPod Touch as native applications. The new feature will be available in Flash Professional CS5, where developers will have the option to export as .ipa files.

This announcement is probably Adobe’s way of making up for the fact that there isn’t going to be Flash Player support on the iPhone. As a reminder, yesterday Adobe announced that their Flash Player will be coming to all major mobile operating systems, starting with Palm webOS and Windows Mobile by the end of the year, with Google Android and Symbian to follow in 2010. Apple’s OS was not included.

A beta version of Flash Professional CS5 with this new feature is planned for launch later this year.
