A mobile commerce facility has been launched by Amazon to allow people to pay for items with their phone.
According to the online retailer, the Amazon Mobile Payments Service (Amazon MPS) will make it much easier for payments from mobile devices to be processed by distributors, developers and merchants.
The system has been based on the infrastructure that many developers and business use for their PC-based ecommerce outlets.
However, Amazon MPS has optimised the process of checking out for mobile devices and should also enable millions of people to shop on third party sites.
Howard Gefen, director of Amazon Mobile Payments, said consumers who take up this option would not need to set up payment separate accounts, as they can “simply use the payment information in their existing Amazon accounts”.
This comes shortly after global coffee chain Starbucks revealed that it is planning to unveil a mobile commerce facility to consumers with an Apple iPhone.
Does your brand offer mobile commerce facilities?
