Apple Hikes Up Production for iPhone With an Eye on Holidays

Expecting a strong surge in demand during the holiday season, Apple Inc. has reportedly hiked up its production and has even increased orders for its components by up to 20 percent.

According to reports carried out by DigiTimes, a leading Taiwanese trade magazine, Apple has increased orders to its partner companies like Primax Electronics and Foxconn Electronics from 17 to 20 percent.

Most analysts predict that the demand for Apple 3GS is expected to skyrocket in the coming months and the move by Apple to ramp up its production is on expected lines and is essential to keep up with the surge in demand.

Of late Apple iPhones have been flying of the shelves in many regions and even its COO, Tim Cook admitted in a conference call that the handsets are in short supply and he would have liked to have more of them.

It needs to be noted that Apple has managed to post a record sales figure of 7.4 million iPhones in the last quarter and many expect it to beat the mark in this quarter owing to the strong demand in the holiday season and more carriers including the likes of Vodafone and Orange getting ready to distribute the phone through their networks.
