Jailbreak Hits iPhone OS 3.1

Posted in iPhone News by admin. Published October 6th, 2009

iPhone Dev-Team rolled out a new jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS over the weekend that supports iPhone OS 3.1. PwnageTool 3.1.3 added support for the iPhone 3GS with OS version 3.0 or 3.0.1 assuming the handheld has already been jailbroken.

Jailbreaking is the process of hacking an iPhone or iPod touch so that unsupported third-party applications can be added to the handheld. Apple doesn’t support jailbreaking and won’t offer support for devices that are jailbroken.

PwnageTool 3.1.3 also added support for jailbreaking the second generation iPod touch for OS 3.1 if it has is running a jailbroken version of iPhone OS 3.0 or 3.0.1. The September release iPod touch, however, isn’t supported since it includes the 3.1 update pre-installed.

PwnageTool 3.1.3 is available for download, along with a list of warnings and installation steps, at the iPhone Dev-Team Web site.
