1Password 3 adds remote access, custom iPhone sync

Posted in iPhone News by admin. Published November 19th, 2009

Agile Web Solutions has released the completed version of 1Password 3, its web login utility. The software generates custom passwords for websites, remembering login information for automatic insertion later. Users can also save content related to online shopping, such as credit card numbers.

The most prominent feature in version 3 is claimed to be 1PasswordAnywhere, which lets users remotely access 1Password data via a web browser.

The new 1Password Vault lets users store software licenses, and when syncing with the companion iPhone app, information can now be transferred selectively. Some other additions include tagging, Smart Search, editing from within browser extensions and the ability to encrypt and attach files.

The program requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later, and has been made fully 64-bit compatible in Snow Leopard. A single-user license is currently $40 new, or $20 as an upgrade from earlier versions. 1Password 2 purchases made after February 1st are eligible for a free upgrade.
