Apple Apps That May Never Find Their Way to Your iPhone

Posted in iPhone News by admin. Published November 11th, 2009

Nothing in this world is perfect, and the Apple iPhone is no exception. Lines that extend for who knows how long inundated AT&T and Apple stores the day the latest model came out, but bottom line is that users have mixed reactions regarding the device itself.

However, if there is one thing that many may consider as a sure success as far as Apple is concerned is the Apple App store.

iPhone appsAccording to a feature on switched.com, the combined downloads of iPhone and iPod users have reached the 2 billion mark; whether this significant amount of downloads covered an equally significant number of the hundred thousand-something applications in the App store library, though, is an entirely different story altogether.

The fact that a rather tiny percentage of the apps in the App Store actually find practical uses in iPhone owner’s phones suggest that there are more than enough apps in that library. The feature we read on swiched.com, though, shares 9 apps that were actually banned from circulation. We are sharing some of them with you; maybe you, too, have opinions regarding whether these apps should be made part of the mainstream or not.

Baby Shaker.
This may offend a lot of people’s sensibilities. Apparently, the game consists of attempting to get a crying baby to quiet down – by shaking the baby as hard as you possibly can, until it dies. Talk about morbid, but hey, someone developed it, so maybe someone thinks this is actually funny? For the record, we don’t.

Google Voice. This app, had it not been banned by Apple, would have allowed iPhone users to use their iPhones to access their Google Voice accounts to place calls, check voicemail or send text messages, either on the cheap or for free. Can anyone take a stab at why this got a “No” verdict?

I Am Rich. If you can afford the $999.99 price tag of this app, then you may indeed be swimming in cash, especially since the only thing that this darn app can do is to throw up a glowing red light and the words “I am rich.”
