French court hears exploding iPhone claim

Posted in iPhone News by admin. Published November 17th, 2009

An unnamed iPhone user is asking a French court for an independent expert to investigate the safety of Apple’s device after claiming his handset shattered “spontaneously”.

The news follows a string of recent claims from French iPhone users that their devices’ screens have exploded.

Apple is denying a risk with the smartphone and a recent French authority’s investigation has found no evidence to suggest the phones are liable to explode without “external force” being applied.

Worldwide iPhone sales have recently totalled 7m units with Apple’s global smartphone share rising to 17.1%.
