GeoHot To Release Blackra1n RC2 and Blacksnow iPhone Jailbreak and Unlock Tools Today

iPhone hacker George Hotz announced a few days ago that he will release an unlock for iPhone OS 3.1.2 on November 4th, however, today he posted an article on his personal blog which says that Blacksn0w as well as Blackra1n RC3 will become available at 12PM EST or 5PM GMT.

First, he wants to see #blacksn0w become a trending topic on Twitter and then he will release the unlock for the 05.11.07 baseband for all iPhones. Thanks to Blacksn0w users will be able to use iPhone tethering on their iPhone 3.1.2 OS as well as other features.

GeoHot decided to release another version of Blackra1n; RC3 will come packed with hacktivation support, a 15-second speed enhancement, Tiger+PPC support as well as installation of the Blackra1n app (if you don’t have it already). Like aforementioned, nothing will be available for download until noon EST so you’d better make #blacksn0w a trending topic on the popular micro-blogging service Twitter.

If you still have the Blackra1n app on your handheld, then run it and you will see that Icy has been replaced by “Ra1n.” This will upgrade your Blackra1n app, and after this you have to run the app once again. Then you will see “Sn0w”. Just install Snow and your iPhone is unlocked! Sounds simple, right? Well, it’s as simple as that!

If you’ve never installed Blackra1n on your iPhone, then head over to Blackra1n.com, download Blackra1n RC3 for Windows or Mac OS X, run it, and click Make it Ra1n. After your iPhone will reboot, run the Blackra1n app, install Blacksn0w and your device will be unlocked.

If you have jailbroken your iPhone with PwnageTool or if you just deleted the Blackra1n app, then rest assured as Blacksn0w will become available in Cydia. Attention! In this case Blacksn0w will be released later than noon EST and you will have to check GeoHot’s website for more instructions!

An extra attention will have to be paid by iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3rd gen users who will have to use Cydia On File or Firmware Umbrella so that they can restore to iPhone OS 3.1.2 at some point into the future. Just be careful what you install and how you install if you need your device to be unlocked!
