MEN launches free iPhone app

MEN Media, publisher of the Manchester Evening News, has launched a free MEN application for the Apple iPhone.

The app allows readers to browse headline stories in a number of categories including news, business and showbiz, as well as visiting dedicated sections on the city’s two football teams, Manchester United and Manchester City, while on the move.

A spokesman from MEN said although thousands of people read reporters’ stories on mobiles every month, the iPhone app will offer an enhanced service. Users will be able to use the app to share stories on Facebook and Twitter, receive breaking news and store news stories and pictures to read offline.

The app is available from the App Store from an iPhone or from iTunes for users with the iPhone touch.

Last month, MEN Media appointed Dave Raywood as strategic marketing director. In the new role, he will work closely with the sales team and be responsible for improving the research available to the commercial team.
