Recently Nokia Corp. based in Espoo, Finland has been all over the news for their lawsuit against Apple and the iPhone. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Wilmington, Delaware with allegations that the iPhone infringes on 10 of Nokia’s patents, which are related to Wi-Fi access and phone calls.

Nokia has now gone another step in the allegations. As of December 29, Nokia Corp has expanded their legal clash and is now claiming that almost every product created by Apple violates the patents of Nokia. On this date, Nokia filed a complaint with the United States International Trade Commission, citing that Apple’s iPhone, iPods, and all of their computers are violating the intellectual property rights of Nokia.
The features that are in question include cameras, user interface, power management technologies, and the antenna. Nokia claims these technologies reduce the size of the gadget, extend battery life, and cut the costs of manufacturing.
Apple has denied all the disputes, has filed a countersuit in the U.S. District Court in Wilmington, Delaware, stating that Nokia is the copycat, and has copied features from the iPhone. Apple is also claiming that Nokia is in violation of their patent rights on technology for teleconferencing, connecting phones to computers, and touch screen menus to name a few.
In the US, federal lawsuits allow companies to seek court orders as well as monetary gains to stop various practices. With the complaints now in front of the US International Trade Commission, companies may see an order for United States Customs to stop importing products created with the technologies in questions. Several of Apple’s components and products are manufactured overseas.
