If reuniting with his former bandmates in the Velvet Underground for a New York Public Library discussion last week and making a guest appearance on the upcoming Gorillaz album hasn’t kept him busy enough, rock icon Lou Reed has stepped into the highly competitive world of iPhone app development.
Reed’s creation, Lou Zoom, is designed to help visually-impaired users throughout the globe. For merely $1.99, Lou Zoom, which is being plugged on Reed’s official website, gives users the luxury of working on the phone without their pesky reading glasses.
Enlarging the numbers and names in your contact list, a press release announcing the app touts it for “allowing you to read your contact info without squinting.” With the advent of Lou Zoom, one can’t help but wonder what’s next from Lou — perhaps an app to allow aging iPhone users the opportunity to enlarge lyrics to classics like ‘Sweet Jane’ and ‘Satellite of Love’?
