Apple has again expanded the functions of iTunes Preview, the web-based showcase for material at the iTunes Store.
In addition to music, site visitors can now see previews of iPhone apps; when opening an app link in a web browser, people will see details and screenshots without having to own iTunes. Actually downloading an app requires following a link back to iTunes.

In early January, Apple added sound samples to Preview music listings.
The company is believed to be working towards some form of web-based streaming service, made possible by its buyout of a company specializing in the technology, Lala. The inclusion of apps in Preview may suggest that Apple will eventually provide previews for video content, such as movies and TV shows.
