Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, who’s done everything from teaching school to appearing on Dancing With The Stars since leaving the company decades ago, seems to continually manage to pull off one surprising act of coolness after another.
Whether it’s offering words of encouragement to developers of iPhone farts apps at Macworld Expo in 2009 (even as his co-founder Steve Jobs was attempting to ban the apps from Apple’s App Store), or camping out overnight to buy the latest iPad or iPhone along with the rest of us schlubs even though the company has said it’s happy to just send him one, Woz always seems to find new ways to make us think “cool!” when we hear his name or run into him at an Apple-related event.
And now he’s even getting in on the act when it comes to the latest controversy over the supposed iPhone 4G prototype that was found in a bar in San Jose.
Woz recently posed for a photo in he’s holding a (current model) iPhone, drinking a beer, and wearing a T-shirt which reads “I went drinking with Gray Powell and all I got was this lousy iPhone prototype.” Powell, of course, is the Apple employee who lost the prototype.
Although considering Powell’s low ranking within the company, it’s unlikely that any of the components (particularly the external design) of his “prototype” were actually real beyond the specific aspect of the device that Powell himself was working on (such practices by Apple are well documented when it comes to unannounced products still in development), it’s nice to at least one Apple co-founder having some fun with the situation. Then again, with Steve Jobs still being at Apple and having to actually deal with the mess, one can’t blame Jobs for not being quite as happy go lucky about the whole thing.
