Google’s Android outsells the iPhone-Latest:Android, the mobile operating system from Google, grabs second place in sales of smartphones over Apple’s iPhone in the United States. RIM, maker of the popular Blackberry, remains leader reaching the U.S. market share of 36%.
The analyst firm NPD Group which is responsible for the success smartphones of the mobile telephony sector, has published the first quarter sales data of the U.S. market for smartphones.
Most striking is the rise of Android-equipped terminals, which account for 28% of total sales, exceeding Apple’s iPhone is maintained with a 21% share. Globally the first place is held by Nokia with 21.5 million units sold.
