Google Upgrades Android, IPhone Image Search

Thanks to some new moves on a certain search giant’s part, the owners of Android devices and iPhones should find their image search experience much improved. Google Image Search for mobile received several significant tweaks earlier this week.

A post on the Google Mobile Blog explained, “The thumbnails are square to maximize the number of images we can get on the screen at one time so you can scan them quickly,” “-y-ou can swipe to see the next or previous page of results, or tap the large, stationary ‘Next’ and ‘Previous’ page buttons,” and “-w-e optimized for speed so that the images appear quickly when you browse.”

What’s more, “The black background emphasizes the image and the buttons fade after a few seconds so you can just see images with little distraction,” and users can “-e-asily browse through the images by swiping from picture to picture.”

Considering that even the biggest smartphone screens are small compared to most computer monitors, and that phones of course lack proper keyboards and mice, all of these changes are bound to impress people.

What’s interesting is that Google didn’t distinguish between iPhone owners and people who are fans of its own Android operating system, introducing the upgrades to everyone at the same time.
