Health insurer Humana Inc. has developed the first of what it plans to be a suite of iPhone game applications aimed at promoting healthier living.
Louisville-based Humana (NYSE: HUM) said its Games for Health team has developed Colorfall, a puzzle game that allows users to test their cognitive and physical fitness, according to a news release.
Users have to arrange cascading colored tokens in the order of the colors of a rainbow. A player can achieve higher scores by taking pictures using the iPhone’s camera and incorporating the pictures into the game. Players earn points for quick reaction and fast picture-taking abilities, according to the release.
The app will sell $2.99 in Apple’s online iTunes store. Consumers can preview the game at www.humanagames.com or see a demonstration on YouTube.
Humana worked with Persuasive Games LLC, an Atlanta-based software developer, to create Colorfall, according to the release.
Earlier this year, Humana launched iPhone and Android applications that help consumers find urgent-care centers, monitor health savings account balances and receive information about their health insurance member benefits.
Humana provides health and supplemental benefits to about 10.4 million medical members and about 7.2 million specialty-benefit members.
Humana bases its local operation in Walnut Hills, and has about 327,000 Tri-State members in its health benefits plans.
