The new iPhone 4 offers many new features, from the video chat Face Time, to the crystal clear Retina Display. LG, the manufacturer behind the display for the iPad and the up and coming iPhone, have fallen under a bit of scrutiny from tech analyst Ashok Kumar of Rodman & Renshaw.
Concerns over the company’s ability to meet the demands of the upcoming iPhone 4 launch are screaming across the internet today with news of LG’s supply of these IPS panels being almost half of the initial estimate of 4 million units.
According to Ashok Kumar, “Low yields on the IPS LCD panel from LG Display have dramatically impacted the production volumes for iPhone 4.” Written in his research notes, “Our supply chain checks indicate that our earlier monthly shipment estimate of 4 million units have been reset by about half.”
While this is only one analyst’s view on the issue, it does raise some concerns for iPhone 4 hopefuls. This comes in light of the recent cancelation of some pre-orders by AT&T. While there has been no official word behind these cancelations, one can assume it might have something to do with AT&T and Apple’s ability to meet the growing demand.
