We are all expecting the imminent arrival of the iPhone 4G or HD which everybody and his dog thinks will be launched at this year’s WWDC on June 7 and yesterday came reports (see earlier article) that the phenomenal success of the iPad has seen 2 million units sold within 2 months. Now we’re wondering if some of the success of the iPad can rub off on the iPhone 4G.
An interesting article by Peter Chubb over on Product Reviews, points out that some felt the iPad’s lack of support for Adobe Flash may dent sales although this didn’t appear to be a problem. For those of you who would like a tablet device running Flash though we told you yesterday (see here) of the new Eee Pad.
The article points out that using the iPhone OS on the iPad was a smart move by Apple as people who hadn’t previously owned an iPhone have now become familiar with it through their iPad, and it may influence their decision to purchase the next-generation iPhone. We should also remember that Apple is upgrading their operating system to iPhone OS 4.0 in the near future and a new iPhone running on a new OS may tempt many more customers.
The popularity of Android phones at present, with the amazing success of the HTC Droid Incredible and the upcoming Evo 4G, may be making Apple worry a little more than usual about the success of the next iPhone 2010, which is why I’m pretty sure they’ll be wanting to fight back and launch it asap, on June 7.
