The iPhone 4 is finally here. The most highly anticipated gadget since Apple’s last big release arrives in stores today. And it could be Apple’s biggest hit yet. The company says it took a record number of pre-orders for the device. But it’s not all good news.
The white version won’t be available until late next month because of manufacturing challenges. And there are scattered reports of defective screens from people who received their phones a day early.
Verizon and Motorola rolled out their latest challenge to the iPhone yesterday. The Droid X runs on Google’s Android software and has a large 4.3 inch screen, 8-megapixel camera, and records high-definition video. There will be new video apps designed to take advantage of the large screen, including one from Blockbuster for buying and renting movies. And it connects to TVs so users can watch content from the phone on a bigger screen. The Droid X goes on sale July 15th, for $200 with a two-year contract.
