Vodafone reveals iPhone 4 handset price

Vodafone is first UK carrier to announce details of price for iPhone handset and data plan

Vodafone has become the first carrier in the UK to announce details for the pricing of the iPhone 4 handset.

The company will be charging £189 for the 16GB model, and £280 for the 32GB model on contract. Customers will have to take out a contract starting at either a £25-per-month for two years, or £30-per-month for 18 months.

A page on the Vodafone Web site earlier today stated that the company would have the iPhone 4 and be selling on launch day, 24 June 2010. The site also stated that Vodafone could deliver a unit to anybody who pre-ordered by 22 June 2010.

As with the current iPhone 3G S, customers will also be able to pick up the handset for free if they sign up to a £45-per-month contract.

Like other carriers, Vodafone is shying away from offering unlimited data. However, the deal includes 1GB of data per month, double that of O2’s recently announced offering of 500MB per month. The iPhone 4 will also be available on O2, T-Mobile, Orange, and Three, with Virgin said to be in talks with Apple about stocking the handset.
