Well, that certainly didn’t take very long.
In the race to sue Apple and AT&T over the iPhone 4’s connection troubles, first prize goes to Maryland residents, Linda Wrinn and Kevin McCaffrey.

Since the iPhone 4 went on sale, many users have complained about reception problems tied to the smartphone’s antenna. The complaint revisits Steve Jobs’ e-mail correspondence -”Just avoid holding it in that way” - as well as Apple’s official statements about the matter. Among other things, the class action lawsuit claims that the companies were guilty of misrepresentative trade practices when they sold a product with a defective design. The complaint also charges various warranty breaches and fraud.

Apple historians couldn’t resist pointing out the irony. Looking through the pages of Wikipedia, under the search term Fortune’s Philip Elmer-DeWitt pointed to the entry noting that “Apple itself has filed more than 350 cases with the U.S. Trademark Office alone between Jan. 2008 and May 2010, including suits over the use of the term “apple” by people who sell the fruit.”
