Frash app: How to install Adobe Flash on your iPhone

After plenty of trial and error, someone has figured out how to install Frash - Adobe Flash on an iPhone. For all the iPhone has and does, not having Adobe Flash has been a glaring omission far too many people have longed for that Apple has ignored. Now that Apple no longer has the ability to fall back on their years old stance that installing “unauthorized apps” is illegal, there is no reason to not install Flash and take your iphone to the next level.

Actually the version is called Frash, not Adobe Flash, and it is based on Adobe Flash 10.1. The name is a little catchy and what you would expect from the same hackers that brought us the Spirit jailbreak. There are two ways to install Frash on your iPhone. The first is a bit of a pain and is fairly easy to mess up if you’re not really a tech person. The second way is a bit more cut and dry and works just as well - it’s just explained better than the Redmond tutorial.

Redmond did make a video however to help walk you through the installation, and it does help to a certain degree. The Frash installation process that seems to be the clearest for most people is the one we’ll look at here. Keep in mind it is essential you follow the directions to the letter or it is not going to work and you’ll just get aggravated. Also be advised that you install Frash at your own risk which is the standard disclaimer for nearly all the jailbreaks associated to the iPhone 4 these days. You must also have an iPhone (version 3 or higher) that has already been jailbroken.

The simplest thing is to go to Cydia (http://repo.benm.at
Install Frash
You’re done

The other way to get Frash installed is as follows:

* Launch Cydia and hit the “manage” button
* Choose “sources
* Go to the top right and hit “edit”
* Go to the top left and hit “add”
* When you get the pop-up type or paste in http://repo.benm.at
* Hit “add source” and the box will close
* Go to the top right and hit “done”
* Go to Cydia Search and enter Frash
* Install Frash

Once you’ve installed Frash - by whatever method you choose to go with- add “Frash Toggle” so you can turn Adobe Flash on and off. Frash flat out destroys your battery life if you leave it running full-time so you’re going to want the ability to turn it on and off to keep your battery fresh. The above two installation processes are very easy and within a few minutes you have Adobe Flash 10.1 on your iPhone. It is a significant upgrade that you really ought to at least seriously consider installing because it does elevate the user experience very quickly and noticeably.

Frash will work on the following devices:

iPhone 3gs
iPhone 4
iPod Touch 3G
iPad  (3.2.x)
