The speculations and rumors over the release of an iPhone on Verizon have been going on for quite some time now. A few weeks ago Bloomberg reported that a Verizon iPhone will hit the stores as early as January. Several other tech websites also reported the same, with some claiming that Apple and Verizon are working tirelessly to release the phone in January next year. The orders from Apple for CDMA chipsets have fuelled the rumors as Verizon uses CDMA technology.
At present, it is tough to fathom out that what’s going on between Apple and Verizon but going by the market value of Verizon it will not be surprising if the electronic giant decides to join hands with Verizon.
Verizon and AT&T are two major carriers of U.S. Verizon is US’ largest carrier by subscription, while AT&T is the exclusive carrier of the iPhone 4 in the US. A recent opinion poll had revealed that 50% of the Verizon subscribers in the US are going to buy the iPhone on Verizon.
About 23% of existing AT&T users, 20% of T-mobile users and 22% of the existing Sprint users are also willing to buy a Verizon iPhone. There is no denying the fact that Verizon must be happy to know this but the carrier knows that it’s not that easy to go with.
Experts maintained that Verizon could face the same traffic problem which AT&T is facing while carrying iPhone. Verizon enjoys a good reputation among the American subscribers and if the carrier wants to maintain after the release of iPhone as well then it should take measures in this regard.
