Long before the iPhone 4 was released, there was a rumor concerning some sort of agreement between Apple and Verizon. People were expecting Verizon to be the next carrier for the legendary handset but somehow it didn’t work and AT&T got away with the biggest piece of the cake.
For over 10 years, Apple has been playing safe and getting away with most of the profit share, but this year hasn’t been so favorable to the company. The tragedies started to unroll right after the company “lost” its iPhone 4 prototype and to add to the injury, the antenna gate was another issue that is still not completely resolved.
Droid fever
With reception issues and AT&T’s history of carnage, subscribers deserve a better carrier. Anyways, looking at the Droid side of this story, the Android devices are doing pretty good. These phones have gained 2/3 of the market share and the only party that is the bottom feeder right now, its RIM.
The original Droid was a sensation and do you know why? Because people bought it because of its social networking features, applications, lax policies and tons of stuff that AT&T wasn’t offering its iPhone owners. Verizon appeared to be a messiah in those dark times and everyone wanted a piece of the Droid, more than he/she ever did.
iPhone, your phone
Looking at the facts, it is revealed that the iPhone sales started hitting the lower ranks for the first three months that lead to the launch of the iPhone 4. Despite of the Antenna issues, the iPhone 4 sales still hit the counters but bear in mind that the Android market is also spreading at an alarming rate.
The “extremely satisfied” customers of the iPhone 4 have fallen down to “satisfied”. So where does that lead Apple?
