Apple Inc. (AAPL) has been given a China network access license for its iPhone 4 smartphone, according to the website of China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center, indicating the new version of the popular device could soon make its debut in China.
China Unicom said last month it expects to offer the iPhone 4 sometime this year.
China Unicom spokesman Wen Baoqiu and Apple spokeswoman Carolyn Wu, both based in Beijing, declined to comment.
