Foursquare’s iPhone app 2.0 version launched this week, emphasizing Tips and To-Dos, which are given prominent placement on the app’s navigation bar, a Mashable review said.

The goal is to encourage app users to save the places they want to visit and store activities that might be fun to pursue. People using the new application will be visually alerted to nearby saved To-Do’s via a blue dog ear denoting the To-Do in question. They also get a reminder about a saved To-Do when they “check” in at the corresponding venue.
Websites like Time Out New York, New York Magazine and The Wall Street Journal soon will feature “Add to My Foursquare” buttons, to encourage web visitors to clip a venue as a Tip or To-Do for future use. In fact, anyone is encouraged to add the button to their website to encourage people to save an event or place.
