It appears that Microsoft might just be getting a bit ahead of itself.
Yesterday the company organized a funeral parade through its Redmond business campus celebrating the death of BlackBerry and the iPhone at the hands of Windows Phone 7, which recently hit the RTM milestone that saw the final OS shipped to manufacturers for implementation.
Research firm Gartner, however, expects Microsoft’s smartphone OS market share to fall in spite of the new platform, from an 8.7 percent share last year to 3.9 percent in 2014.
Microsoft is expected to announce information about Windows Phone 7’s device launch time frame at an upcoming event in New York City on October 11.
