What Else Can The iPhone 4 Do? How About Record Video From Space?

Apple’s phone really goes out of this world

Getting high-definition video footage from outer space isn’t something only NASA can do anymore. A father and son duo proved that this weekend when they posted a video successfully recorded from an iPhone 4 100,000 feet into the atmosphere.

The interpid duo put the phone into an insulated capsule which was then attached to a weather balloon. The balloon soared until it went outside the planet and then, at 100,000 feet above its deployment, the balloon burst.

Father Luke Geissbuhler then logged online to track the phone’s GPS from an app he installed. It survived the plummet back to Earth, thanks to a parachute that was attached and successfully deployed, and landed just 30 miles from where it was launched.

All the while, the phone was recording video of the entire thing. And who says the iPhone 4 doesn’t have a good battery life? It’s possible aliens picked up the phone while it was in space but probably couldn’t get it to work because of its antenna problems.
